Microsoft Reference Setup Troubleshooter

Determine if you are using real-mode CD-ROM drivers. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type Sysedit. The System Configuration Editor opens on the screen.

3. On the Windows menu, click Autoexec.bat.

4. Locate the line containing the file name Mscdex.exe.

5. Type REM, and then press the SPACEBAR at the beginning of the line containing the file name Mscdex.exe.

6. On the File menu, click Save.

7. On the Windows menu, click Config.sys.

8. Locate the line containing the CD-ROM device driver.

9. Type REM, and then press the SPACEBAR at the beginning of the line containing the CD-ROM device driver.

10. On the File menu, click Save, and then click Exit.

11. Restart the computer and then attempt to install the program again.
